Sports Performance Institute of Central Florida looks forward to serving the communities of Central Florida by providing high level sports medicine. Lead by our Founder and Director, David Ogilvie, we provide physical therapy, sports performance and advanced mechanics training for athletes of all sports and ages. Traditionally, these disciplines are provided separately; however, our belief is providing these disciplines concurrently is what provides our athletes with the safest and most effective treatment. We evaluate each athlete’s current performance level and develop an individualized plan in order for them to reach a higher level of performance.
Mission:
To provide high quality sports medicine that treats each athlete with an individualized approach by incorporating injury history, experience, and
personal goals.
Vision:
To be the trusted source of Rehabilitation and Performance training for all clients and athletes of the Central Florida community. Sports performance that goes beyond the basics to truly help each athlete achieve their full potential no matter your sport or goals.
David’s love for sports began in early childhood as he played baseball, football, basketball and soccer. He continued to play both baseball and football throughout his high school career, but found his true passion was baseball. During his senior year, he received a scholarship to play NJCAA baseball at Alabama Sothern Community College. He then received a scholarship to Florida A&M University which allowed him to continue his baseball career and fulfill a lifelong dream of playing Division I baseball.
Unfortunately, his career was not injury free as David suffered from a UCL (aka Tommy John) injury during his freshman year of college. His playing career, personal injuries, and different coaching styles throughout the years has shaped how he addresses athletes today. This novel experience allows for him to provide a more personalized experience to clients as he shares common experiences.
David’s own injuries and setbacks in performance drove him to want to know more about how the human body responds to the stresses of sport and life. In order to learn as much as possible to help other athletes, David pursued his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Central Florida. He excelled in his studies and published literature during his doctorate program that helped shape rehabilitation practices for post-surgical patients.
Following graduation, David began practice as a Physical Therapist in Maitland while simultaneously beginning his Sports Performance practice. David has grown to help athletes at the amateur, high school, collegiate and professional levels. He believes that his learning has not stopped and continues to pursue the latest research, practices and reflection on his own performance in order to continue providing top level Sports Medicine.
David and his wife, Erin, met in college and have been together for over ten years. Erin works as a public accountant and is the CFO of Sports Performance Institute of Central Florida. They are both passionate about strength training, continuing education, and giving back to the community. If they aren’t working, you can normally find them exploring and dining in the beautiful city of Winter Park.
